saying “gen x/baby boomers ruined the economy” is just as ridiculous as saying “millennials are killing fabric softener”, because the fallacy of both is in placing moral blame on individual people for enormous societal and economic trends that happened during their lifetimes, and of which different individuals were examples or counterexamples in different ways.

when young people focus on this kind of criticism of “baby boomers” or “old people” in general, it obscures the truth that privilege is largely inherited in families.
